The Patna Master Plan 2031 envisions a transformative roadmap for Bihar’s capital city, addressing the pressing challenges of rapid urbanisation through a comprehensive and sustainable development framework. This research paper critically examines the Plan’s key components—land use zoning, multimodal transportation, inclusive housing, smart infrastructure, and ecological resilience—within the context of global urban planning paradigms such as smart growth and new urbanism. Emphasis is placed on the institutional architecture led by the Patna Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA), which fosters inter-agency coordination, decentralised governance, and participatory implementation. The study also explores financing strategies, stakeholders’ engagement, and real-time monitoring mechanisms that aim to ensure transparency and efficiency. Drawing on empirical data and stakeholders’ insights, the paper evaluates the feasibility and impact of the Master Plan in enhancing urban livability, economic vitality, and environmental sustainability. It concludes with strategic recommendations to bridge implementation gaps and promote an inclusive, resilient, and future-ready Patna.-Reproduced
