Governance relates to the structure and functioning of the government and the institutional arrangements and processes of civil society. A society having high degree of resource scarcity due to intense competition for raw materials and increasing demand for livelihood resources requires an efficient and just environmental governance system. This article attempts to include environmental governance initiatives at the international, national and local levels.
