The basic objective of introducing the concept of FPO is to group together the small and marginal producer farmers for backward linkage for inputs like fertilizers, seeds, insurance, credit, knowledge and other services, and forward linkages such as processing, collective marketing, market-led agriculture production. The paper demonstrates two successful case studies of FPOs formulated in the area namely Jivamrit and Bhuamrit. The Farmer Producer Groupsare running under supervision of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Haidwar (G B Pant Agriculture University) as nodal agency and promoted by NABARD. The FPOs quoted here demonstrate a successful farmer to family business model. – Reproduced
