Digital Signature Certificates are a modern-day concept to bring about overall efficiency in the Government administration. DSC is part of e-governance model of the Government. DSC tokens are used for the purpose of digitally signing any document by putting the password set by the user pertaining to the DSC token. It is a substitute for manual signatures. The evidentiary value of DSC is at par with manual signatures. DSC cannot be replicated by any other person since it is protected by way of a public key and private key. In the present article we look at the importance, advantages, and the disadvantages of using DSC in Government departments. –Reproduced
