Dimensions of spiritual tourism in coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu

It has vast and inexhaustible potential to enhance national income, foreign exchange reserves and employment opportunities. The size and economic significance of travel and tourism have attracted the attention of many countries in actively promoting tourism as a way to stimulate their economies. The World Tourism Organization has recognized the potential of tourism sector for poverty alleviation by increased job creation. Consequently, many developing countries are improving their tourism planning and developments approaches. The research objective of the article is to study the satisfaction level of tourist, determinants of spiritual tourism, and problems faced by tourist in Coimbatore district. The number of samples collected for this study is 150 tourists. The type of sampling used is convenient sampling. The Simple percentage analysis, chi-square test and Garret ranking technique have been employed for the the data analysis. The crucial findings regarding the problems tourists face generally include pollution and lack of cleanliness, beggars nuisance, lack of sanitary facility and exploitation by taxi and vehicle operators.
