The colonial legacy, including Macaulay’s introduction of English education to promote British culture and philosophy, influenced India’s intellectual and political discourse. In the post-independence era, the Constitution of India guarantees fundamental rights such as freedom of speech, assembly, and association, which provide the legal foundation for peaceful agitations. However, the exercise of these rights often intersects with governance challenges, public order concerns, and judicial scrutiny.
