The Indian Journal of Labour EconomicsSummary: The outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) triggered a significant reverse migration trend as many individuals returned to their birthplace from their place of destination. It posed significant challenges for both migrants and non-migrant individuals. It was observed that the engagement of people in information and communication technology (ICT)-enabled economic activities has increased. Information and communication technology played a pivotal role in addressing the challenges and providing virtual job opportunities to disseminate knowledge and skills. It also helped in job searching and working from home in online mode through the lens of electronic gadgets and the internet. It is found that the outbreak of COVID-19 has displaced a large number of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled people outside the job and created challenges for livelihood. At this time, ICTs have become an influential phenomenon, which impacted all aspects of society to find a new livelihood path. This study shed light on the role of ICT in skill diffusion and accommodation of pandemic-pushed reverse migrants and non-migrants individuals in the economic system. This study is based on secondary as well as primary survey data. In addition, it also assesses the responses of the government and suggests some policies for the future.-Reproduced
