520 _aTracing evolution of the concept of development administration and recognition and importance that it gathered during 70s and 80s at international and national levels, the author focuses on analysing its position during the current decade, particularly in the context of de-emphasising of the role of State under pressure of globalisation. Critically analysing new trends and approaches which are geared towards development management under the compulsive influence of economic reforms sponsored by international funding agencies, he upholds the need for improving quality of service by public sector but maintains critically the role of development administration in exercising economic sovereignty and control over national resources and environment and ensuring and overseeing that their use by private sector (particularly its foreign counterpart) continues to be in line with the national objectives. - Reproduced
