520 _aIn this paper the impact of share tenancy on crop productivity, farm income and farm efficiency has been examined with microlevel data from three villages in Orissa in Eastern India. Vital tenets of the Marshallian, Cheungian and Marxist view on efficiency implication of share tenancy have been taken as hypotheses and tested against the field data. It is observed that share tenancy is not inefficient in comparison with owner cultivation if we consider static allocative efficiency at a point of time. But in the long run share tenancy has adverse effects on farm economy by impairing accumulation, investment, land improvement and human resource development. - Reproduced
