520 _aDecision making plays a key role in the efficiency of an executive. The style of making decision is influenced by the decision maker's characteristics. The style determines the quality of the decision. The authors conducted a research using questionnaires among the middle level executives of a large public sector undertaking in Tamil Nadu. The results indicate that executives with internal work locus of control adopt a decision style (vigilance) that leads to high quality decisions while executives with external work locus of control adopt decision styles (hypervigilance, defensive avoidance, procrastination and buck passing) that lead to defective decisions. - Reproduced
