520 _aCasting aside complacency on account of the current advantage which India has world over with regard to software manpower, the author takes a futuristic view of IT education in India, laying full emphasis on quality and productivity aspects, particularly when the nation is planning to launch the second wave of IT education. Basing on findings of studies on our current IT education status, he analyses future needs in both software and hardware sectors to find that 70 per cent of what we produce in the formal sector is unusable. Unhappy with the current quality promoting measures, he presents a comprehensive package to ensure that our IT professionals become unbeatable both in terms of quality of their input as well as productivity. - Reproduced
