| 520 | _aBihar, being third most populous state in India, has discouraging demographic features evident from the fact that fertility rate and population growth in Bihar are highest in the country. There are wide empirical evidences of close association between women’s educational status or position in society and demographic pattern of a country. This apper looks into the impact of the educational status of women on their fertility rate and population trends of the state which defines its demographic structure with reference to Bihar. Therefore to underline the inter linkage between education and demographic transition in Bihar a comparative study of female literacy rate, total fertility rate and age sees structure has been done and inter relationship has been traced in comparison to that of India and other states.
