520 _aThe rapid urbanisation in India has resulted in un-ubiquitous regional development and multilateral difficulties at diverse levels starting from city to regional levels, which clearly demonstrated the lopsided urban planning and unregulated governance of the urban ecosystem unfavourably. Indian cities are facing the problems of traffic congestion, reduction of green cover, haphazard peri-urban settlements, an increased traffic, affecting the cities and surrounding areas’ environment adversely. The present problems will worsen over the coming decades with phenomenal urban population that requires an urgent attention to urban planning with reference to smart city mission project. – Reproduced
