520 _aIn India, agriculture is the foremost sector that remained positive and robust amid an unprecedented crisis of the pandemic . it maintained a seamless supply chain of essential food items across the country and also successfully met the increased global food demands. Backed by good monsoon and timely interventions by the government the agriculture sector registered a growth of 3.6 per cent in 2020.21, which improved to 3.9 per cent in 2021-22. As the largest employer of workforce, the sector contributed a sizeable 18.85 per cent in (2021-22 in grass value added (GVA) of the country. Simultaneous buoyant growth in allied sector, namely animal husbandry, dairying, and fisheries also helped the agriculture sector perform well. – Reproduced
