520 _aGujarat, today considered the growth engine of India, witnessed a turnaround from being a water scarce state to water secure state in the first decade of the 21st century under Narendra Modi’s leadership, resulting in sustained double digit agricultural and economic growth. Its transformation by adopting environment–friendly policies, climate–resilient engineering, and strengthening grassroots leadership, which stand out as an example of sustainable development and offers a path to follow. This article throws light on the steps taken in the State since 2001 that have become the basis for new policies and practices at the national level and have the potential to make an impact, especially in the Global South to achieve sustainable development goals and prosperity. - Reproduced
