| 520 | _aChild sexual offences can occur in a variety of situations, and India, which has the largest population of children worldwide, witnesses an increase in these incidents. One significant problem is that most cases of sexual abuse of children in India go undetected. Of these cases most of them are victimized by family members, relatives, friends, criminal family friends etc. The situation reveals that there is a gross violation of children’s human rights. Despite Constitutional and several legal safeguards, cases of children’s sexual abuse have not been arrested. In the given situation, the present paper attempts to examine the prevalent judicial practices in protection of children from victimization and to understand the functions and procedures of judiciary in delivery of justice, particularly related to the psyche of the victim. The paper finds that there is lack of awareness of protective and remedial legal provisions among the people. Reproduced | ||
