520 _aFor the first time after the fall of the Mauryas there was a Kushana empire which not only embraced nearly the whole of north-India but also considerable territories outside it as far as Central Asia. India was brought into close contact with the outside world. The period also witnessed important development in religion, literature and sculpture, and the appearance of the Buddha figure. The Kushana dynasty opened the way for Indian civilization to Central and Eastern Asia. The Kushana became the ambassadors of Indian culture and civilization to the outer world. The Geo-political situation of the Kushana empire made the north –western region of the country, the meeting place of the three civilization i.e. India, Chinese and western.- Reproduced
