520 _aThe male-female differentials in education, employment and earnings in the labour market for scientific and technical persons are examined in this paper for the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala using the 1981 DHTP survey data. The sharp contrast between the two states in the economic and social indicators provides an interesting context for a comparative study. As expected, the average earnings and the gender gap in earnings are higher in Tamil Nadu than in Kerala. Surprisingly, the occupational segregation and wage discrimination are higher in Kerala compared to that in Tamil Nadu. - Reproduced.
