520 _aCorona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) first appeared in China in December 2019. The spread of the disease led to an unexpected global shutdown. The government of India declared a nationwide lockdown on March 24, 2020, to combat and control the growth of the virus in the country in response to the COVID-19 threat. The lockdown impacted people in all age-groups across all the sections of the society. This paper explores the lives of youth of Bihar during the pandemic and their perception about the role of the Government during this period. The research is qualitative in nature. In-depth interviews were conducted with fifty respondents from nine districts of Bihar. Both telephonic and face-to-face interviews were conducted with the respondents. It was found that the lockdown impacted the various aspects of the lives of youth like academic performance, mental health, finance, family and social life. The study describes the impact of the various stages of the lockdown on the youth, the challenges experienced by them, and the coping strategies adopted during the pandemic. The youth felt that overall the Government could respond to this global crisis on time and opined that there is a need to be better prepared for such events in future.- Reproduced http://www.iipabiharbranch.org/
