In India, along with other aspects, livelihood and health primary education also got affected badly. In various studies, it was found that the educational level of students deteriorated during the pandemic. Bihar is not an axception. During lockdown in the Covid-19 pandemic led to the closure of schools for one and half years. The role of community had also to play roles along with school set up. This makes an urgent imperative to examine the role played by Vidyalaya Siksha Samiti (VSS) in reducing the impact of the pandemic on elementary education. As such the present study ventures to explore the ground realities regarding the role of VSS in facilitating primary level education by conducting survey at the school level. Five schools were selected and members VSS, teachers and students were sampled with purposive sampling method. The loss of learning outcomes, enrolment and dropout, a proliferation of paid tuition, shortage of textbooks, and community support were examined. We found that VSS played a significant role in generating interest among parents to play a significant role in their children’s education. – Reproduced http://www.iipabiharbranch.org/ | ||
