520 _aEstimating limited dependent variable panel data models for major industries from 2003–04 to 2019–20, it is found that higher uncertainties in economic policies increase the number of mergers and acquisitions, whereas the number declines following macroeconomic shocks. Moreover, various industry-level factors such as market size, extent of vertical integration, and trade openness also influence the variations in the number of M&As across industries directly. The findings of this paper suggest that, in addition to industry-specific factors, macroeconomic conditions are important determinants of M&A activity and therefore require adequate regulatory attention. – Reproduced https://www.epw.in/journal/2024/34/indias-industrial-transformation/economic-policy-uncertainty-and-other-determinants.html
