520 _aEnsuring food and nutrition to its citizen is the prime responsibility of state. Governments have been taking steps in this regard. But the paradigm of public distribution of food has been shifting over the periods and a landmark shift took place with Amrataya Sen’s pleading for entitlement of all even poor and destitute over food. Gradually the idea cropped up into the idea of food security and Government of Indiaof adopted by law known as Food Security Act 2013 (FSA). As such, the present paper underlines the related government schemes and their prospects in socio-economic improvement of the weaker sections. It also attempts to highlight the aspects of implementation for further enquiry. Thus it provides a comprehensive overview of India's food security policy landscape, offering insights into present challenges, and the evolving strategies employed by the government to address the intricate web of issues surrounding the availability, accessibility, and affordability of nutritious food for its vast and diverse population. – Reproduced http://www.iipabiharbranch.org/upload/BJPA_Vol.%20XXI%20No.%201(S)%20Jan-June.%202024.pdf
