520			_aOn 21 September 2024, Sri Lanka is scheduled to hold its presidential elections. This is the first election after the 2022 debt crisis and the mass street protests which ousted President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. This election is largely fought on a platform of economic stability in the context of an ongoing IMF-led reforms programme. This is challenged by the main two opposition contenders, the SJB and the NPP, in the face of growing inequality.
