A lot of material being republished after years feels irrelevant in the changed circumstances and there is a danger that it would be read out of context, if it is not accompanied by a background note or on how the author’s perception has evolved over the period. However, despite these problems, several writers, scholars, and retired practitioners have republished their media articles as books. Whether they manage to repackage it to make it more relevant and whether it is even possible to attract attention to something written as a standalone piece on an event that happened 12 or 15 years prior is another issue. At the same time, there is value in such work if it helps to understand how perceptions evolve over a period of time and what goes into making them. – Reproduced https://www.epw.in/journal/2025/2/book-reviews/india-china.html | ||
