| 520 | _aIncreasing the production of palm oil is crucial for reducing India’s dependence on the imports of edible oils. This paper explores the complex challenges surrounding the provision of a suitable support price for farmers of oil palm, protection from cheaper imports, and other related issues. The paper proposes an improved methodology for computing a remunerative support price to farmers. We also recommend a price trigger for tariffs on imports and a level of tariff, both of which are dynamic, flexible, and easy to administer. – Reproduced https://www.epw.in/journal/2025/19/special-articles/edible-oil-sector-india.html | ||
