520 _aThe present study is based on qualitative research, focuses on migration problems of Hindu Bengali's from Bangladesh (erstwhile East Pakistan) into Assam, one of the eight states of Northeast India. The backdrop of present article is the migration problem which has been happening over the last few decades in different parts of the world and especially is South Asian Nations. Being the most developed of all South Asian countries; India has been receiving immigration/ refugees from neighboring countries since 1950's. In 1971 Liberation war, more than 10 million refugees have crossed over from East Pakistan to the North- eastern states of Assam, West Bengal, Tripura, and Meghalaya which has created huge impact in the demographic structure of these states. Under this background the paper highlights some of the major emerging issues in the discourse of migration of Hindu Bengali's into Assam. - Reproduced
