520			_aThe article critically analyses different representations and conceptual frameworks conferred on Ambedkar or applied to understand Ambedkar's thought and praxis in the available literature. The paper argues that conferring or applying any singular representation and/or conceptual framework to understand Ambedkar is not only unhelpful but also generates biased reflections and specific agendas of the proponents in a particular context and time rather than providing a complete picture of the man and his vision and his works. Ambedkar's life and works demand a much more nuanced and complex methodology than scholars have applied. The article argues that the yardsticks/paradigms like a national hero versus a Dalit icon, pragmatism, and use of Gandhi as the measuring rod have failed to do full justice and incorporate the comprehensive nature of studies on Ambedkar. Such paradigms create serious methodological difficulties and limitations in research on Ambedkar. The authors argue that the way forward is to adopt a more inclusive, holistic, and nuanced approach to studying Ambedkar. - Reproduced
