The Brahmaputra valley in Assam is prone to frequent and severe floods, causing significant harm to infrastructure, livelihoods and human beings. The flood’s impact on Assam’s agrarian economy, which heavily depends on agriculture, is a topic of academic concern. Riverbank erosion is a significant threat that can displace populations and cause long-term challenges in addition to flooding. This article suggests that the present government’s strategies for mitigating disasters may be inadequate. The article investigates the efficacy of governmental measures in managing floods and riverbank erosion in Assam, with a specific emphasis on disaster governance. It also examines the governance model of recurrent disasters, identifying potential areas for improvement and providing valuable perspectives for academic research.- Reproduced https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/00195561251336856 | ||
