520 _aBihar, one of the most densely populated states in India, grapples with major issues concerning out-migration, joblessness, and economic underdevelopment. The state’s persistent out-migration is mainly caused by a scarcity of local job opportunities, poor infrastructure, and insufficient industrial growth, prompting a significant portion of Bihar’s population especially its youth to relocate to urban areas within India and overseas in pursuit of better opportunities. This exodus of human capital intensifies the unemployment crisis in the state, resulting in a depletion of skilled and semi-skilled labour that could otherwise aid in fostering local economic development. These patterns impede Bihar’s economic growth and exacerbate its developmental obstacles. To tackle this ongoing trend of out-migration and joblessness, it is crucial to adopt a sustainable development strategy. By combining education, job creation, and infrastructure development, Bihar can mitigate out-migration, keep its workforce, and promote sustainable economic growth over the long term, which will ultimately enhance the socioeconomic conditions of its people. This paper examines the relationship between out-migration, unemployment, and sustainable development, suggesting solutions to tackle these interrelated issues.- Reproduced http://www.iipabiharbranch.org/upload/BJPA_Vol.%20XXII%20No%201_S%20%20Jam-June%202025.pdf
