520 _aPoverty estimates across social, religious, and economic groups using the Tendulkar modified mixed reference period poverty line for 2011–12, 2022–23, and 2023–24 show a substantial and broad-based decline in poverty. No state or union territory now reports a poverty rate in double digits. The results underscore the continued effectiveness of sustained rapid growth in driving substantial reductions in poverty across all groups, irrespective of how these groups are defined. With its moderate reforms and complementary redistributive programmes, India has succeeded in bringing about improvements in living standards.- Reproduced https://www.epw.in/journal/2025/48/special-articles/mapping-poverty-across-social-religious-and.html
