520 _aUsing data from two nationally representative surveys, the changing importance of different sources of income and the levels and sources of income inequality among agricultural households are examined across major states of India. The results show a significant decrease in the contribution of income from cultivation towards household income, coupled with an equally significant increase in the share of wages and salaries, and high and persistent levels of income inequality. The contribution of income from cultivation towards overall income inequality has increased, and the gross value of output is seen to be the main source of inequality across states. –Reproduced https://www.epw.in/journal/2025/47/special-articles/income-inequality-among-agricultural-households.html
