520 _aAny resettlement project’s success depends on the material conditions in the resettlement site such as size, maintenance and the quality of houses provided to the resettled population. Equally, the availability of economic opportunities is very important for the upward mobility of the resettled population. However, the complete success of the resettlement projects depends on several other factors, particularly housing satisfaction in the new site, which is directly related to the social fix. This paper attempts to understand the idea of the “social” and proposes the concept of a humane “social fix” to achieve the desired goals of the resettlement policy. –Reproduced https://www.epw.in/journal/review-urban-affairs/unfixing-social.html
