The analysis suggests that higher returns from horticulture, relative to field crops, have been a key driver of its expansion. The findings indicate that the sector has exhibited robust growth over time, with positive implications for farmers’ economic well-being. Farmers’ participation in horticultural cultivation is associated with an increase in farmers’ incomes of about 19%. To sustain and enhance agricultural growth, policymakers need to invest in the requisite infrastructure to facilitate diversification towards horticultural crops. –Reproduced https://www.epw.in/journal/2026/17/special-articles/horticulture-sector-india.html | ||
