| 520 | _aShereen F Ratnagar was an extraordinary personality in every sense of the term. Born in Mumbai (amchi Mumbai [“our Mumbai” in Marathi], as she would sometimes fondly say), she, perhaps at a very early age, had decided to pursue the past through the lens of the discipline of archaeology. As we know from her, “something clicked,” when she read Mortimer Wheeler’s Archaeology from the Earth (1954) in Class 9. Fortunately, from then on, given Ratnagar’s persistence, there was no looking back on the decision. Thus, the fields of proto history and Indus Valley culture gained. – Reproduced https://www.epw.in/journal/2026/23/commentary/shereen-f-ratnagar-1944-2026.html | ||
