520 _aAfter a prolonged period of neo-liberalism and retreat of left politics, a section of the left visualises China’s rise as an opportunity for a new deal for working-class empowerment in the multipolar world order. This article discusses the predictions made by various authors and calls for a shift in visualising the transformation of the world order based on external factors and subjectivity to one based on the inherent and fundamental dynamics of capitalism. At the present juncture of the capitalist world system, the left should focus on the emerging class struggle for the transcendence of capitalism and the building of socialism. –Reproduced https://www.epw.in/journal/2026/26-27/discussion/left-dilemma.html
