520 _aWith a view to study the determinants of executive burnout data were collected through standardized questionnaires on 72 middle level executives from public, private and government organisations on ten role related variables (inter role distance, role stagnation, role expectation, role erosion, role overload, role isolation, personal inadequacy, self-role distance, role ambiguity and resource inadequacy) and three dimensions of burnout (depersonalisation, lack of personal accomplishment and emotional exhaustion). Regression analysis yielded role overload and self-role distance as critical determinants of burnout among Indian executives. Implications of the findings are also discussed. - Reproduced.
