520 _aIn this paper an attempt is made to chronicle the episodes of earthquakes and floods in Maharashtra, provide an overview of the lessons learnt from these natural disasters and recommend the strategies for the future. The Bhuj earthquake of 26th January 2001 and the recent floods in Orissa, Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh will also be used as illustrations to review the lessons learnt from these natural calamities and to place the strategies for future in perspective. - Reproduced.
