520			_aUnemployment has been the root cause for many of the ills of India. The problem of unemployment has created social, political and cultural unrest among unemployed masses especially among the educated unemployed mass. Realising the economic and social side effects of the problem, the successive governments at Central level have formulated many schemes and programmes. The PMRY is one such scheme which was implemented with avowed objectives of removing unemployment among educated masses in India in 1993. The scheme provides a package of financial and non-financial inputs to unemployed masses to establish tiny and micro type business industrial and service organisations with a financial assistance not exceeding Rs.2,00,000 per beneficiary recoverable within a period not exceeding 7 years. The present work is an attempt to evaluate the implementation and achievement of the scheme at national level and at state level, especially at Karnataka State level. The findings and relevant suggestions provided would go a long way in percolating the benefits of the scheme among all the beneficiaries. - Reproduced.
