With the near-optimum utilisation of easy terrain there is no other option but to exploit the difficult sites, overcoming the adverse geological and other conditions that exist in the Himalayas as well as in the northeastern region. But the challenges ahead are not only in the complexities of the projects in respect of their design and construction but also in the planning process.
