520 _aThe effects of globalisation have been felt in all the spheres of administration but the worst hit has been the discourse on social citizenship. Marshall emphasized in his concept of social citizenship that state should provide a basic minimum to all its citizens. Globalisation with its roots in privatisation endorses "Retreat of State" and "Control of Market". In a country like India where farmers are giving away their lands at throwaway prices in the name of development, higher education is not gender-friendly, employees of call centres are facing cultural subordination, the author shows that in all the above cases only positive intervention of the state can counter these ill-effects of globalisation. - Reproduced.
