520 _aThis article applies the index of multiple deprivations to measuring the dimensions of deprivation in the city of Guangzhou, China. The study uses both population census data and information on minimum living standard support. The spatial pattern shows the concentration of highly deprived areas in old in old areas is characterized by underprivileged living conditions, while ex-industrial areas present a more income-based poverty. The authors suggest that this spatial pattern has resulted from underinvestment in old areas before economic reform and economic restructuring of industrial districts under post reform policies. - Reproduced.
