520 _aChina and India are the most populous countries in the world and in view of their tremendously growing economics and limited domestic resources increasingly dependent on energy imports, facing global resource scarcity, competition between the two Asian giants for access to strategic energy assets and supply deals is fierce and only mirrors their manifold and complex economic and political rivalry. This is particularly true for the energy-rich countries around the Caspian Sea. This article addresses the ongoing Sino-Indian rivalry in this Caspian Crescent, analyzing the economic significance of this region for China and India, comparing the different approaches of the two countries to secure their energy stakes and their success rates. - Reproduced.
