520 _aTraining is a short term educational process, utilizing a systematic and organized procedure by which employees of an organization learn technical knowledge and skills for a definite purpose, ft is just one (but expensive) solution to organizational and individual performance problems. Hence, the question to the effectiveness of this solution is inevitable. There are various factors determining the effectiveness of training programs, also there are various models for measuring the effectiveness of training programs. But there are very less research(s) done in order to find out the relations between the factors determining the effectiveness of the training programmes, and the actual effectiveness of the trainingprogrammes. The purpose of this research paper is to discuss various studies done in the area of measuring the effectiveness of training programmes, and find out the factors (especially the pre - training factors) determining the effectiveness of training programmes. The authors have collected the data from across the organizations in order to highlight the area of measuring the effectiveness of training programmes, analyzed it and suggested a possible model to overcome its weaknesses, which mainly emphasizes on the significance of the pre - training factors in determining the effectiveness of training programmes. The study was conducted in central India with 72 HR experts / professionals from 36 different organizations. The validity of result was tested through chi square test. The major findings were 10 different factors determining the effectiveness of training programmes. - Reproduced.
