520 _aPervasive poverty, destitution and migration have become the plight of the broad masses of various regions like KBK districts of Odisha. As we approach the age of science and technology, a major challenge for not only the KBK districts, but also for the whole developing countries is to tackle and find permanent solutions to the pervasive problem of mass poverty which in recent years has reached alarming proportions. Hence, this paper examines the problem of poverty and demonstrates how technology can be applied as an effective tool to alleviate mass poverty in KBK regions. The argument of the paper is that technology like ICT is generating new opportunities that can be detained to support human development and poverty reduction. - Reproduced.
