520			_aPast performance of MPLAD Scheme has been mixed. In many cases, useful work has been noted, at the same time in several cases, the MPs concerned have not been able to utilize the full amount allotted to them. The scheme has also been challenged because of its constitutional validity and appropriateness in the light of the 73rd and 74th constitutional amendments. In this light, paper presents an in-depth analysis of the working of the MPLAD scheme and its impact on local area development in the district of Faizabad. Paper examines MPLAD projects' selection, implementation, type and quality of completed work and its impact on project catchment area. The release and utilization of funds and completion of projects have also been analysed for developing understanding of the issues and challenges confronting the scheme. - Reproduced.
