Tripathy, Madam Mohan
Burnout stress syndrome in managers (a study in a manufacturing industry) - 2002 - p.89-111. - Apr
Managerial function, essentially, is a stressful activity. Manager is a person who in effect controls all the resources in an organisation, such as men, materials, methods and money. He is under constant pressure to perform better and better. In the process, he is sandwiched between the constant and most of the times conflicting demands - both physical and psychological - placed upon him at the workplace coupled with other demands arising out of his social obligations including family, his environment and demands and expectations due to personal, economic social and political reasons. Stress in a manager can be understood as an incongruity between the demands placed upon him and his ability to meet those. - Reproduced.
