Summary, etc. The present study was designed to investigate the relationship, if any, between bureaucratic orientation and organisational role stress. The sample consisted of 120 respondents comprising of 40 upper, 40 middle and 40 lower level technocrats working in a large government organisation. All the three hierarchical levels under study, i.e. upper, middle and lower, were significantly different on most of the ten role stress variables as well as on bureaucratic orientation. Bureaucratic orientation correlated significantly with 8 organisational role stress factors in case of upper level followed by 5 for middle level
