All the three hierarchical levels under study, i.e. upper, middle and lower, were significantly different on most of the ten role stress variables as well as on bureaucratic orientation. Bureaucratic orientation correlated significantly with 8 organisational role stress factors in case of upper level followed by 5 for middle level
