| Summary, etc |
It is a dominant assumption that the socio-political and gender issues have gripped the rural society, especially in Bihar that tell upon the interests and well being of weaker sections. This has been reflected in a recent OTT webseries entitled, Nirmal Pathak ki Ghar Wapsi. Set in a village in Bihar, the series has recently drawn a lot of attention for addressing the socio-political and gender issues prevalent in the contemporary rural society in India, especially in Bihar. The present attempt intends to analyze the discussion offered by the web series on the contemporary socio-political and cultural problems of rural Indian society pertaining to caste and gender. It further attempts to understand the credibility of proposed reformist approaches within neoliberal societies. It also underlines the paradoxes inherent in such approaches and their ideological construct in the garb of psychodynamics and gender discourse. – Reproduced |
