It seems India never had an organized, rational and a criteria-oriented approach to the vexed question of territorial organization of States. Instead of hearing the allegation of `internal colonialism' time and again from the regions demanding the formation of new smaller states, emanating from a perceived neglect, it is high time one looks at the formation of smaller states as a technique of good governance. What backs such claim are the historical force and sense of identity as a people with distinct identity. - Reproduced. |
